2006 Reunion

This years reunion was again a resounding success. we were pleased to welcome our mates from "over the bridge" coming from Places like Lincoln, London, and Devon. We were also to pay host to Neil from The Falkland. We were Humbled with the presence of Mrs Thomas, (mother of Chris "Bowser" Thomas), Mrs Dale (mother of Ian) and some of her family, Both Chris and Ian lost their lives during the war, it was an honour to have you in our company.

The evening's festivities started with our beloved secretary's welcome, and then Rob "billy" Baynham read out the SAMA prayer, after which we had two minuets silence followed by a toast to absent friends.

The highlight of the evening was no doubt the presentation to the branch of a PERSONAL cheque of £1,500 by Chanai  ,daughter of Nigel Jones, this fantastic donation is for the monument fund, and as it is in the "over £1000" criteria Chanai has requested that it be recorded in the  name of her late grandmother.

The branch made presentations to Paul Stanton, Paul lost his medal in an house fire, the branch presented Paul with a replacement, Paul was overwhelmed as he knew nothing about this. Another Paul, this time Paul wickers, was presented with a tankard by the branch in recognition for all his efforts in the work he has done, we were also pleased that Paul has accepted to join the branch committee. It must also be said that Mr Wickers ( call me al?) & his "moll" Shirley, were selling "bootleg" booze at a £ a pint, that "Al" (as in Capone) acquired from Felinfole (?) brewers, the proceeds of which will go into branch funds, well done

After a lot of hard work by my better half, Gill, and my sister Maureen, in organising the raffle we were able to hand Curly £710 for the branch funds. with an estimated attendance of about 100, everyone dug deep during the raffle/auction, Well done you all
