Your help is urgently required! Peter Brookson is again going for a swim on New Years Day in Saundersfoot. Peter and his chums are pulling out all the stops to raise money for SAMA Wales. A full colour book has been published containing 130 pages in full colour dedicated to the Men and Women of the Armed Forces who have lost their lives in Northern Ireland, The Falkland Islands, Flying Accident Hastings Aircraft Call Sign TG 577 and the Mull of Kintyre.

This is a limited edition and will be raising money for a number of good causes.

Paul Wickers 'Doc' is the Secretary of the Llanelli Branch of the RNA and has just donate £100 to SAMA Wales. During the 6 nations which Wales won hands down by the way!!!!!!!! he held a sweep on the first try scorer. He now intends to repeat this during November. i would like to thank 'Doc' for this and if anyone wants to repeat this in work or in your clubs we can get printed forms done to assist you. just let us know!

SAMA Wales has been informed of the sad death of George Smith (90) ex 1WG

The funeral will start at 12:00hrs on Thursday 1st Sept at the Salvation Army HQ, Hill Street Newport. Then at the Crematorium Newport  for 13:00hrs. Further info can be had from Capt Gerald (Sally Army) 01633 267870 or from Curly 01874 625125.

Unique opportunity to own the Welsh ‘Grand Slam’ 2005

rugby squads signed presentation photograph.

Our charity has very kindly been given from Brains Brewery, the sponsors of the Welsh Rugby Union, a photograph of the 2004/2005 Welsh 6 Nations winning squad. This has been signed personally by the players then mounted and framed in distressed pine. The frame measures 30 x 23 inches.

SAMA Wales is a branch of Falkland War Veterans and Families and a registered Charity and will on Saturday 10th of September in Cardiff, during their annual fundraising night, auction this fantastic gift. Everybody is invited to the social event which includes the Mynyddislwyn Male Voice Choir, and a hot meal. Tickets for the evening cost £10 per person. This unique opportunity to bid for a part of Welsh history is also being extended to include sealed bidding. We will start the auction at £100 and only the winner, if not present on the night, will be notified. SAMA Wales were privileged to help "Charlie" brown (SAMA North Rep) and the rest of FOC ex PARA in their recent Charity Fan Dance. The lads and Lasses walked up to Pen Y Fan to raise funds for among others SAMA (82). On top was SAMA Wales members Kenny Dawkins and Graham Hurley with the National Standard. A fuller report will follow very soon.

On behalf of the committee and members of SAMA Wales we would like to congratulate Gary Clement (Ex Royal) on becoming the new Chairman of SAMA F I (Falkland Islands). Gary played a huge part in the 2002 Pilgrimage and we know that the veterans are in safe hands. Our best wishes also go to retiring Chairman Terry Peck who will, we hope, enjoy his well earned retirement with Eli, his wife. Well done Terry and welcome Gary.

 Advance notice for the SAMA Wales reunion. Saturday 10th September will see the third annual reunion/AGM/fundraising evening at the TA Centre in Adam Street Cardiff. A hot buffet with the company of a Male Voice choir is planned along with the now famous Duggan raffle! Again an auction is planned so don't forget your cheque books! We have delayed fixing a date so as not to coincide with the Mardi Gras as so many of our members are torn between the two!!!!

Tickets will be on sale from May and further information will be in our newsletter out at the end of April.

News just in the FOC of the Parachute Regiment will be holding their annual charity Fan Dance (TAB across Pen Y Fan) on the weekend of the 14th and 15th of May. Proceeds will go to SAMA 82 and a cancer patient belonging to SAMA.

SAMA Wales need help to either partake in the sponsored walk or to help Curly with some logistics at Storey Arms

Unfortunately I haven't got the right boots otherwise I would be leading from the front of course!

News just in from the Trafalgar 200 team.

They are arranging a Veterans Ferry to go round the fleet at anchor off Spithead in June. On the 26th, am or pm for 2 hours at £10.00. On the 27th am same for £10.00. On the 27th pm £17.50, but includes taking part in the rehearsal for the Sovereigns Review. Evening of the 28th, £40.00 for viewing the fleet followed by the fireworks and son et lumiere.

SAMA Wales members Bruce Kirkham (Atlantic Conveyer) and Peter Evans (1WG), return from the Falklands. If you remember at last years SAMA Wales reunion Bruce and Peter won seats to return to the Falklands. They have now returned after spending 10 days with our friends Tim & Jan Miller. We will publish their story soon, but in the meantime we have these few pictures of our boys.

Branch Chairman Stephen Hopkins presents Denzil Connick a cheque for £1,000.00 the proceeds of the recently drawn Christmas Draw. The money raised will be spent on much needed computer equipment for the SAMA (82) office located in Blackwood.
